Bernburg is a beautiful German city complete with rustic shops and modern conveniences. Tourist enjoy the scenic river area and Bernburg Castle most. If you travel you will not need to worry that much about language since most people accommodate English speaking tourists and are all to happy to show you this picturesque East German town that has made the conversion to the new Germany.

The transformation of East Germany is especially apparent in Greater Bernburg, which is in the State of Saxon-Anhalt. Bernburg's economy rests on the four "white powders:" sugar, salt, soda, and cement. Two brand new factory buildings dominate the horizon for miles. The biggest employers in the area, like the Solvay Works, the Mitteldeutsche Stein-und Siedesalz GmbH (salt mine) and the cement works, have successfully made the leap into the free market, thanks to massive reinvestment. Other middle sized enterprises complete the regions wide range of products like pharmaceutical products of the Serum Works, the Bernberg Castle District Bank, the farm machinery of the Rabe Works, the metal processing of the flange works in Bebitz or the many other food, agriculture and building material companies.

Anderson International is a non-profit organization which strives to enhance the quality of life of all residents by exchanging information and sharing culture with people throughout the world. In addition to managing a Sister City relationship between Anderson, Indiana and Bernburg (Saale), Germany. Anderson International is involved in planning and hosting youth, business and cultural exchanges. Its vision is to become an umbrella organization for all manner of international activities in the Anderson area.
